About Deborah

With over 12 years of experience in private practice, I bring both clinical expertise and real-world understanding to my work with clients. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). As an NCC, I have voluntarily met rigorous national standards for education, training, experience, and ethics as established by the National Board for Certified Counselors.

I earned my undergraduate degree in English Education from the University of Illinois and my master’s degree in Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. In 2013, I was honored with the Leading Lady Award from Leading Ladies International in recognition of my dedication to empowering women and adolescent girls within the community.

I have advanced training in anxiety, mood disorders, relationship dynamics, and women’s mental health, along with extensive experience supporting individuals through both individual therapy and group facilitation. I have led support groups for individuals struggling with anxiety as well as groups focused on eating disorder recovery, creating safe, structured environments that foster healing, resilience, and empowerment.

My professional journey began in education, where I worked as both a teacher and later a school counselor. Supporting students and families during pivotal stages of development gave me invaluable insight into life transitions, emotional growth, and the challenges individuals face both inside and outside the classroom.

Over time, I felt called to expand my impact and transitioned into private practice, where I now work more deeply and individually with clients. Clients often share that they feel genuinely cared for and supported in our work together. I sincerely want the very best for each person I work with, and I approach therapy as a team effort. I find immense joy in being a therapist and cannot imagine doing anything else.

In my free time, I enjoy working out, trying new restaurants, reading, and traveling. I love spending quality time with my husband, two children, our pups, and long-time foster cat.
